Rola Dalloul

“My name is Rola Azmi Daloul, 31 years old from Gaza City. I graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and worked in the field of photography, editing and montage for a long time. I come from a conservative family where it is not common for any of its members to pursue a career in art, whether "boys or girls", but life drew a path for me other than the one the family wanted. I knew that I had a beautiful voice since I was in the fourth grade when fate sent one of my music teachers to my school to discover my love and passion for something new in my life.”

“Everyone loved my voice, including my family, my mother and father, but I knew that no matter how far I got, there would come a day when I would stop singing because of the restrictions imposed by society. I participated in many competitions and celebrations, the last of which was five years ago, and every time I went up on stage, I saw how happy people were when they heard my voice and saw a young woman singing on stage, which is something they were not used to seeing in Gaza City. Since I was young, I have been admired and appreciated for my singing talent, which also emerged through my speed in learning the piano, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I did not complete my lessons.”

“After working in the field of journalism, I gained strength and experience in my professional life that pushed me to challenge those around me to do what I love and decide what I want for myself, even if some people do not accept it, because I realized that it is my own life and that I am the only person responsible for it. Therefore, in 2021, I bought a guitar and learned to play with an artist. A year later, I recorded my first song and published it on social media. It was well received, which prompted me to record another song later. On the other hand, I want to invest my voice in working as a TV presenter one day, and this is the other part of my goals that I am working towards.”
