Music Industry and Technology: Deep Dive

This course offers an in-depth exploration of the music industry, covering its history, current practices, and emerging trends. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the key players, challenges, and opportunities in the music industry. The course leverages video resources from Music Ally's Learning Hub and other relevant materials, focusing on the role of technology and its relationship with the music industry through various global models.

Course 2

Entrepreneurship 101

This course teaches students the fundamentals of entrepreneurship with a focus on the music and arts industries. Students will learn about different business types, how to develop a business plan, market and sell their products and services, and finance their ventures. They are also required to develop their own business plans and final projects, applying what they have learned to their entrepreneurial pursuits. in this course the Topics that are covered are:

  • Basics of entrepreneurship: What is it, different types of businesses, and key elements of success.

  • Comprehensive business planning including goals, strategies, and financial projections.

  • Market identification and targeting: Who are your ideal customers/users and how to reach them.

  • Marketing and selling your products or services: How to create awareness and convince people to buy.

  • Financial management: How to raise funds and manage cash flow.

  1. Create a comprehensive business plan, including market analysis and marketing strategies.

  2. Develop and confidently present a compelling business proposal

Course 3

Music in Palestine

This course encompasses a range of readings and knowledge productions related to the historical transformations and roles of music in different contexts in Palestine and the region. It includes historical texts, academic writings, narratives, critical essays, articles, recordings, films, and other local and global productions. The course enables students to understand the various productions of music over time and their role in shaping Palestinian and local identity.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Acquire knowledge about the different facets of Palestinian music in its historical and political contexts.

  2. Understand the role of music in building Palestinian and Arab identity.

  3. Comprehend the transformations of music in Palestine through history.

  4. Study the Nakba as a pivotal point in Palestinian musical production.

  5. Recognize major historical texts, academic writings, narratives, critical essays, articles, recordings, and films about Palestinian music.

  6. Foster curiosity and passion towards various modern Palestinian music genres and productions.
